Age of War 2 is a hybrid defense/strategy game that takes place in real-time. The game is set in different ages, starting from the caveman age and ending in the future. The objective of the game is to destroy the enemy base while defending your own. The game has no story, but it offers a fun and fast-paced gameplay experience.
The gameplay of Age of War 2 is simple and easy to understand. You spawn units by clicking on their portraits at the top of the screen, and they march towards the enemy base in a straight line. Your opponent is doing the same. When your forces meet, they duke it out; fallen enemies grant gold and experience points, which you need to buy more turrets and troops and upgrade your abilities. Each time you upgrade, you advance forward in time, and your fortress and troops evolve accordingly. The game is not terribly complex, but it’s definitely neat to watch the way your troops evolve as you advance through the ages.
The controls of Age of War 2 are simple and intuitive. To play the game, you need to use your mouse. Just click the toolbar to do all there is to do in the game, from building units to upgrading your age.
Here are some tips and tricks that can help you win the game:
- Try to go on the defensive for the first two or three ages, and don’t upgrade to get the assault dinosaur. Before you make any units on the caveman level, make the egg turret. Make one slinger, and don’t do anything else for a minute or so.
- Take out your enemy’s base as soon as possible. Your enemy’s base health increases as you both upgrade, so it’s actually better to take them out sooner, if you can.
- Upgrade your abilities as soon as possible. Each time you upgrade, you advance forward in time, and your fortress and troops evolve accordingly.
- Use a line of 10 cannons as your favorite tactic.
